Greetings Dear Parishioners,
The 15-day lent in commemoration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary commences 1st of August and concludes with the celebration of the Feast of Assumption on the 15th of August.
The Orthodox Tradition holds the belief that St Mary’s mortal body was assumed to heaven, soon after her physical death so that the body which has borne the Son of God may not be subject to corruption. Let us join the Holy Church to observe 15 days of prayer and fasting commemorating the blessed Theotokos so that we also shall be found worthy to bear the Son of God in this world.
Let this Lenten season act as a source of illumination in our lives. Fasting along with fervent prayer and acts of mercy illumines us and it becomes a period of divine revelation and discovery especially during these uncertain times.
Please note that evening prayer will be conducted at the church each weekday at 07:30 PM followed by Intercessory prayer to Blessed St Mary.
I exhort all of you to observe the 15 Days Fast with true chastity, prayer and fasting. May the blessed intercession of the Holy Mother of God be a stronghold to all of us!
